Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing Observatory

The Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing Observatory is located at the summit of Haleakala on the island of Maui in Hawaii. It is the primary scientific research and development center for the Department of the Air Force and plays an integral role in leading the discovery, development, and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for our air, space, and cyberspace force.

The work accomplished on Haleakala's summit is critical to space domain awareness and to providing a strategic advantage in space.

Air Force Research Laboratory Detachment 15 operates the site as part of Space Base Delta 1.
