    ABU wear policy effective immediately

    Air Force officials at the Pentagon released the wear policy for the new Airman Battle Uniform Feb. 7. The policy comes in time to help many of the Airmen deploying to the AOR in May, as these Airmen will be among the first to get the ABU.     When fire swept through the Castle West Apartments Jan. 16, hundreds of people lost everything they owned.   • One of Team Pete’s finest, deployed to Southwest Asia, was recently promoted in the field. Tech. Sgt. Keith Rivers, 76th Space Control Squadron, supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, sewed on the stripe Feb. 1. The unique deployment is supported entirely by 21st Space Wing, 21st Operations Group, and 26th Space Aggressor Squadron (AFRC) personnel. Sergeant Rivers is a signals analyst who has been in the Air Force for 11 years. He has held a variety of assignments and was an honor graduate of the Basic Signals and Advanced Signals Analysis Courses, as well as the Morse Code Interceptor School.   • Friends and families said farewell to a team of space support Soldiers from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/U.S. Army Forces Strategic Command (standing at left) who recently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. They are replacing a team scheduled to return soon from a one-year tour. The team is made up of members of the Colorado Army National Guard’s 117th Space Support Battalion, part of the 1st Space Brigade. ”The 117thSpace Support Battalion has had a constant presence in Operation Iraqi Freedom since the war began,” said Lt. Col. Donald Laucirica, battalion commander. “For some of these Soldiers it is their second tour. This is a fairly common occurrence for the Colorado Army National Guard.” Laucirica praised the Colorado Guard and the 1st Space Brigade for their support in the train up period before the team deployed. “This team is ready thanks to the efforts of a lot of people. “We also have a very strong Family Support Group for this team.
